Symbolism

SHIELD

The shield shape is taken from the shield on the Seal of the State of Massachusetts. The chevronels reversed show the unique type of granite quarried from the area and also signify that this is the second naval vessel named for the City. The eight dancetty pile makes reference to the historic eight fall flow of the Quequechan River at this point. This river once flowed through downtown Fall River, providing great waterpower potential for the textile mills that sprung up along its banks. The spearhead in point signifies the fourth Spearhead-class Joint High Speed Vessel to be part of Military Sealift Command. The barry of five vair serves to describe the building shape of those aforementioned textile mills and indicates the stack colors of the Military Sealift Commands fleet. The lightning trident symbolizes the swiftness, power and reliability of the USNS Fall River.

CREST

The image is a descriptive of the Citys name.

SUPPORTERS

The saber and mameluke sword symbolize cooperation and teamwork and the JHSVs capability to transport both U.S. Army and U.S. Marine Corps personnel and their military vehicles.

MOTTO

Blue is the color for truth, constancy and calm seas. Yellow signifies nobleness, honor and vigor. The motto, FAST FEARLESS FAITHFUL, reflects these traits.
